Shelly Stover
Shelly is a registered associate marriage and family therapist in Los Angeles who specializes in women's issues, reproductive health, and relational trauma. She works with couples and individuals who feel lost, stuck, and overwhelmed. Often they are navigating their growth from a major life transition which often points to the need to find a safe space to explore the grief that exists during this period of change, as well as other emotions that surface.
Shelly worked as a doula and childbirth educator before becoming a therapist and understands the complexity of grief during life transitions. Many of her clients are mothers and she is passionate about helping women find their agency in the various roles in their lives. Her approach in therapy is holistic and psychodynamic exploring all the factors that might be blocking a client from having a fulfilling life and she incorporates mindful and somatic exercises that teach you how to listen to your body and learn how to trust yourself.
Shelly presented at the National Sex Ed Conference about Sex Positivity after birth and has also spoken to medical students about the same topic. She has also hosted comedy-led fundraisers for Planned Parenthood that included humorous approaches to reproductive anatomy and invited comedians on stage to talk about their bodies. Shelly is the mother of two girls who know a lot about the female reproductive anatomy because when your mother has worked with women giving birth, she's bound to tell her daughters what their bodies can do.
